It’s a squirrel day

The little furry scampers will be out in force today in Central Park gathering acorns for winter. I’m writing now so that I can go to the park at lunch, stake out a bench with a good view of the action, sip a coffee, munch on a donut and an apple (or maybe just an apple fritter, it’s like having both at the same time…right?) and enjoy this cold, gray, windy, autumn day. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 🙂

Completely new Iron Elves website coming soon!

If you go to http://www.ironelves.com/ right now it’s a tad out of date. Ok, massively out of date. Jurassically out of date. I realized a while ago I need to do a better job in keeping it current so I’ve embarked on a complete redesign. I’ve even commissioned some original art for it. If all goes well it’ll be up and dazzling your eyeballs in the very near future. In the meantime, enjoy the relic I have. It served me well as my very first website and I’ll always have fond memories of the time we spent together…and ye gads I need to get out of my apartment more and off the bloody internet!

My NY Comic Con interview is now up

I spent a very enjoyable time yesterday with the incredibly nice folks at suvudu.com hanging out and chatting. Eventually, we even did an interview! Thanks again to Shawn Speakman (and also Camille, Kyle, Matt, and Meg). Here’s the interview:

Comic Con – the cure, or terminal end, of enochlophobia

Survived my second day. The crowds were enormous! Chatted with a few fans, accidentally got in a photo of a nurse and a wookie, and filmed an interview with Suvudu.com. As soon as it’s up I’ll post a link. Yesterday at the show my editor brought me the first premium mass market copy of The Light of Burning Shadows! (on sale October 26 in North America). The color of the red is incredible! As good a job as they did on the hardcover this one blows it away. I might try to take a photo and post it, but I doubt I can do it justice. The red is just…wow, really, really red. Not fire engine red or blood red but maybe a bit like Ferrari Red. My favorite colors growing up were always blue and gray, but having seen this I think red just replaced them.

One of the great things about a convention like Comic Con is that you meet and see a lot of very cool people, especially fellow authors. Over the two days the list includes Peter Brett, Joe Abercrombie, Brandon Sanderson, Alex Irvine, Naomi Novik, Jim Butcher, and Richard Hatch who played Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica. And a shout out to two aspiring authors that I know are going to have books on the shelves in a store near you someday soon – Shawn Speakman and Myke Cole. Went to the Del Rey party last night at a very cool little dive bar down on 29th Street and despite an open bar and twenty large pizzas I was good and didn’t overindulge though it was tempting.
