Forecast calls for more writing

I know it’s been eons since my last book – Of Bone And Thunder – and I wish I had a great reason why – enlisted in the Foreign Legion, assigned to the International Space Station, forgot where I put my laptop – but the truth is I don’t. While it’s true life can and will throw you curve balls, it’s equally true we can often get in our own way. The more time passes, the more challenging a task can seem. For quite a while, that’s how writing my next novel felt. Was it writer’s block? I honestly don’t know. Whatever the reason(s), I am writing again and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Several of you have reached out over the years and asked when my next book was publishing. My generic answer was “I’m working on it” which, to be brutally honest, was more fiction than fact. Finally, I can say that fiction has become fact. I can’t give you a specific date yet when it will be finished, but it is happening.

Thanks for checking in and reminding me there are more stories to be told.

Cheers,

Chris

Fallout…I’m into it

I knew of the game, but had never played it so had no preconceived ideas of what to expect. I am a fan of The Last of Us and The Walking Dead (although with some serious caveats) so I was definitely up for another post-apocalyptic series. I love the 50s vibe. And the humor that runs throughout definitely sets it apart from the other ‘zombie’ series. I think it balances the tragic and horrific with the lighthearted. It’s already been renewed for a second season which is great to hear.

The End is Nigh…

…when I will be finishing the draft of my next book. It’s been a long, ahem, looooooooooooong time since Of Bone and Thunder came out. I’m looking forward to getting this next one out there and in your hands. I’ve chosen July 25th as the date for the draft. It was my father’s birthday and seems very fitting. He was my biggest supporter and his encouragement got me through some rough patches. Even though he’s gone, his love and support remain, and that means everything to me.

Cheers,

Chris

Just another proof of life check

I woke up this morning to find my email not working. No idea what’s happened. To say it’s annoying is an understatement. This post is really just a shout in the dark so I can see what is still working.

In other news, I just finished reading Going Postal by Terry Pratchett. I think that’s my third time. Love it every time. The man was genius.

How many books have you read so far in 2024?

We’re into the fourth week so I’m guessing some of you will have gone through a few already. I don’t have an exact number. As an acquisitions editor I get new manuscripts on my desk (well, my computer screen) regularly. Some I read all the way through, others just a sample. It depends on if I’m going to be working on that book or not. Reading for pleasure is a different story. Short answer is none…yet, but it’s not as depressing as it sounds! My creative outlet is more than fulfilled with my own writing which I am happy to say is back on track after far, far, far too long.

Stay tuned for more updates soon!
